Great Blue Heron, Everglades National Park, Florida

It was a sunny, warm day when Ann Mellema took this photo of a Great Blue Heron on the Anhinga Trail at the Everglades National Park.

Mellema told TODAY.com that a slight breeze ruffled the heron's feathers, making for a more detailed shot. Mellema, who lives in Naples, Fla., spent two days in the park trying catch glimpses of birds and gators.
