Which modifications does a hard-working, desert-dwelling Ford F-150 SVT Raptor need? On the first full episode of Dirt Every Day, Petersen?s 4-Wheel & Off-Road Technical Editor Fred Williams takes his buddy?s SVT Raptor for some upgrades.
The first item on the list for the black Raptor is a Mossy Oak vinyl wrap, which will help protect the paint and look cool at the same time. Keeping with Ford?s digital dirt graphic scheme, the wrap features a mil-spec desert digital camouflage look. Next, the Raptor is equipped with new tubular front and rear bumpers to replace the much abused factory pieces. The front bumper gets a three-mode LED light bar and a winch, whereas the rear bumper is replaced with a tubular unit that preserves the trailer hitch and under-bed spare tire to preserve the off-roader?s utility.
Before returning the Raptor, Williams installs the optional factory bead-lock wheels, which aid in extreme off-road driving. Once the modifications are complete, Williams heads back to the desert to see how the upgrades perform in the desert. Check out the video below to see the results.
