Wheelchairs were flying around the gym last Friday evening at Georgia Farrow Recreation Center in Irving. It was the annual holiday wheelchair rugby game pitting participants in Rise Adventures against the Dallas Harlequins rugby team. The victor: Rise Adventures, again!

The nonprofit founded by Paul Gray of Irving provides adaptive recreational programs for the physically disabled. One of its more popular programs is wheelchair rugby, which is played on most Friday evenings in the Georgia Farrow gym.

The annual holiday game featured talented Rise Adventures players against the able-bodied rugby players. While pretty athletic, the rugby team had a hard time keeping up with the coordinated wheelchair rugby players.

Outside the gym, a mountain of toys piled up?donations given by those who took part in the event for Toys for Tots. To learn more about the nonprofit, visit riseadventures.org.
